Biracial Hair Care

Gabriella's Hair Journey

Brillo Pad

Brillo Pad

I can’t believe I actually thought her hair looks good here. I blowed dryed and flat ironed without moisturizing and sealing with an oil and without heat protectant. Obj was so rough on her hair and I didn’t even know it. So very sad. Day 49 to healthy hair : )

Playing with her hair

Playing with her hair

Took her hair down and moisturized with water, added leave in moisturizer and sealed with coconut oil. Left her hair down for awhile and she played with it. It was cute. Her texture is big and beautiful and tomorrow is her big birthday party sleepover. Excited and happy for her. I tried to go low manipulation but just isn’t working out for me. I’m not combing her hair. I’m finger detangling or not detangling at all which is a good thing. Love when her hair looks so healthy : ) today I washed Alex hair with tresemme conditioner then deep conditioned under hair dryer for 30 mins with the new Shea moisture deep condition masque and then do washed again with the condtioner. Then moisturized and sealed. Hair is good : O

Loving the texture!!

Loving the texture!!

So last night I took out her two French braids cause they needed some freshening up. Applied coconut oil liberally and cross wrapped her hair. This morning I pretty much did the same two French braids but instead of making them tight I made them very loose which made the texture POP!! Not sue if you can tell but the top left picture really shows how far off the braid is from her head. Even she was like mommy it is very loose. I want her toe joy the big and beautiful textured hair she has!!

Tresemme Curl Hydration

Tresemme Curl Hydration

All i can say is WOW!!…first time using this. Tresemme curl hydration conditioner. It left my daughters curls popping. Reviews were great and only $3.98 at Walmart. It’s a keeper. Great slip and left her hair silky smooth. It’s a great co-wash (we don’t shampoo anymore) for Alexandra : ). She gets deep conditioners and co-washes 2X a week. I wash my hair everyday and Gabriella’s hair is deep condition/
wash once a week. There is a lot of hair going on in my house. LOL

December Goal

December Goal

LOW MANIPULATION!!…I’m following the rules. I’m deep conditioning weekly, clarifying once a month, zero heat, silk scarf/pillowcase at night, moisturizing etc but not number 10. So it’s on!!

Day 42-Wash Day

Day 42-Wash Day

Did the green tea rinse today. So many benefits. But made her hair hard. I’m going to rinse it out next time. I applied the moisturizing deep conditioner over the tea rinse but not next time. So my pre poo was a hot oil treatment with warmed coconut oil (20 seconds in microwave) and applied and left on for 30 mins. Which was new cause I have always pre pooed the night before with coconut oil. So that’s two first for us. The pre poo hot oil treatment and the tea rinse. I air dryed until about 75% dry and then moisturized and sealed And wrapped for bed. It will finish drying through the night. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in the morning : ) it’s our 6 week hair anniversary!!!

Forgot to mention I made this shirt today. So cute cause she is small and everything is so compact. Lol. Not sure how long she will be able to wear this shirt but I’m ready to measure on wash day where her hair is. I’m guessing AL-armpit length or BSBL-below shoulder blade length. We will see. Not that I’m obsessing about hair or anything. Lol. I know I know patience is a virtue : )

Tea Rinse

Tea Rinse

Sunday wash day I’m going to try a tea rinse. The caffeine helps stimulate growth. I make green tea. 2 bags in 2 cups and allow to coolto room temperature. Pour on her head in the shower after shampooing and before deep conditioning her hair. You can use any kind of tea you like. They all have caffeine in them.

Love learning

Solid plan

imagePutting the pieces together is tough. Tons of info out there. But what I really red to do is listen to her hair. I need to assess her needs and not use a cookie cutter recipe. Cause her needs will change. Basic principles will remain the same but hair needs change from spring-summer-fall-winter. No two heads are the same. Her hair needs are unique and I want to be able to look at her hair and say it needs more moisture or more protein or I can wash her hair less than a week or wait more than 7 days if her doesn’t need it. So here is too learning her needs. Cheers 😊 and good link below on 8 great protein conditioners
