Fresh hair cut

Ends look dry

Ends look dry

So she chose her hairstyle today for Cheerleading pictures which I like. He hair felt very oily but her ends seems dry still. I’ve applied moisturizer and oil to the ends and generously at that. I’m wondering if it time for a trim. I can’t recall the last time I trimmed her hair but doesn’t seem that long ago. Hair generally grows almost 1/2 inch a month. I’ll research today how to know when it’s time for a trim. Maybe it’s best in the beginning of our journey to just do it now and start very fresh. I’ll let you know what I come up with.

Thick Hair!!

Thick Hair!!

So lesson learned yesterday when Gabriella got out the shower I shld have applied her Shea butter leave in conditioner and allowed to completely air dry. I instead appied the leave in conditioner and the JBCO right away. That was the mistake. Her head was itching. I’m assuming cause I didn’t let it completely air dry. Poor baby. Her hair was much harder to comb this morning. I wanted to try and not have to comb her hair and just finger comb but that ain’t possible. Her hair is super thick and then the oil thickness. Well next wash I’ll know better. Another great reason to write a blog!

Wash Day

Wash Day- Day 8

First washed her hair with the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo. Which left her hair soft. Its sulate free and made a difference. Dont laugh but i really thought that “stripped” hair meant clean hair. Not true. I was removing the moisture from her hair. Her natural moisture. Its called a journey for a reason. Then used the SoftSheen Optimum Defy Breakage Masque and under the dryer for 20 mins. Loving the ionic soft bonnet dryer. Removed the conditioner. Allowed to air dry and then moisturized and sealed her hair. I have so many products I’ve tried and not liked. So to actually find some that leaves her hair moisturized is a miracle. Time to clean out my cabinet. This is a happy mom!!

Hair day 6

I can really tell its time for a wash. I didn’t like the way I styled her hair today. I can’t do tight braids so they look really loose and not fresh. I’ll have to work on that. But then again I don’t wanna pull her hair and have it fall out. The way I wrap her hair is really working. So much better than the way I used to do it. Tomorrow is the big wash day. Gonna start early.

Today’s style

Today's style

So it’s been 4 days since we washed and the curls are coming in. She is enjoying seeing all the pictures and post I’m doing for her. It’s very cute. So glad I learned how to wrap her hair cause the mornings are easier now. All I have to so is style.

Twist with a low bun

Twist with a low bun

Morning hair do. Not sure if you can see the twist. I parted her hair one side and started at the top and twisted her hair to the back and put a low bun. Bobby pins are our new friends. I sprayed the jamacian black castor oil in the roots and scalp. And used moisturizer on the length of her hair. No more brushed for us. Just fingers and wide tooth comb. Maybe a soft brissel brush to smooth out the edges only. She is taking all this information in just as I am.

Hair Wrap

Hair Wrap

So I went on the internet and learned how to wrap her hair properly. I have been wrapping it with a silk scarf but not as tight as I shld have been. First I moisturized and put the Jamaican black castor oil. Day one for oil. I’m hoping to see some nice growth in 2-3 months. Her hair grows it’s just that it breaks so I don’t see length. I used two mesh wraps and a scarf. Now to see what it looks like in the morning.
